Brabrabra are a Berlin-based girl group. Susanna, Saiko, and Federica are three good friends that started to play together in Federica’s wohnzimmer just for fun. Their lives were weird enough that they could write songs about it, with irony, cynicism and tenderness together.
Following the tradition of bands like The Raincoats and Marine Girls, Brabrabra’s synthesis of slanted melody, intensity, and playfulness gives Pop a friendly face again. The label Kitchen Leg Records, which they use, impresses with its stylistic homogeneity and a very good selection of artists.
Breaking new ground over the Riot Grrl days of Babes in Toyland and similar combos are the bass and drum duo The Shna. Their latest EP ‘Fairytape’ features half an hour of rushing sparks, alternating with noisy creaking and rumbling, layered on top of adventurous singing.
There is plenty of courage for Lofi, and the strongest are the two when they do not take themselves too seriously — which is pretty much always.
Support will be from Laura Hagemann on the musical saw.
