An unmissable live performance by possibly the best German band ever, certainly John Peels favourite German band, FSK along with Buback label mates Die Goldenen Zitronen, 1000 Robota and Kristof Schreuf.
[audio:F.S.K.- Virginia Beach.mp3]This is a great chance to see the cult band Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle prior to the release of their triple CD boxed set “Ist ein Mode & Verzweifelung Produkt” on Disko B tracking their career from 1980-2010.
If there is a label in Germany where music always had a political touch, then it definitely is the label Buback Tonträger. Founded in 1987 by Ale Dumbsky and Ted Gaier this label’s initial stylistic focus was on punk rock the way the members of the Goldene Zitronen defined it. Later on, at the beginning of the Nineties, the label became an important platform for rap and hip hop with German texts.

After the vast decline of the networks created in the Eighties and Nineties this label can now justifiably claim to be one of the few remaining places where esthetically and economically “independent” music is being produced in Germany. Nowadays it is being run by the painter Daniel Richter, as well as the music managers Torsten Seif and Friederike Meyer.
During the grand label night on 20 February 2011 at HAU 2 four of the most important artists signed by Buback Tonträger will give appearances. Next to the GOLDENE ZITRONEN there will be the ensemble F.S.K., another legend of independent rock, led by the artist Michaela Melian and the writer Thomas Meinecke. F.S.K. has been influenced by post punk of the early Eighties.

At the beginning of the evening there will be a discussion with EBBA DURSTEWITZ (Ja König Ja), KRISTOF SCHREUF (solo artist), THORSTEN SEIF (label manager Buback Tonträger) and further guests with CHRISTOPH about the eventful history of Buback Tonträger, about body policies in punk and rock music, about the contemporary perspectives of pop culture with political commitment, and about the anti gentrification movement in Hamburg.
