Brooklyn-based BUKE & GASE are Arone Dyer on the “buke ” (a self-modified six-string former baritone ukulele) and Aron Sanchez on the “gase ” (a guitar – bass hybrid of his own creation).
[audio:xxx-xxx.mp3]Both of them play double duty, also mobilizing a small army of foot percussion. These instruments are then filtered through various pedals, amplifiers and homemade inventions to create a surprisingly complex sound.
Dyer’s supermelodic vocal lines weave through the beautiful yet unwieldy musical matter, balancing light and dark, calamity and control. Their musical multi-tasking makes for live shows that are visually unexpected and sonically explosive.

Annabel Alpers aka Bachelorette is from New Zealand but currently based on the east coast of the USA. She cut her teeth in cult bands such as Christchurch’s psychedelic surf outfit Hawaii Five-O, Space Dust and the Hiss Explosion.
Though Bachelorette’s third full-length record (named “Bachelorette”) was written on Earth – it is more at home gliding through surreal galaxies and swimming through a matrix of coolly illuminated neural networks. But these journeys are the same – both echo with an aching solitude, the conditions that Annabel Alpers needs to dream up her minimalist electro psych pop.
