Burkhard Beins 60 / Trio Sowari 20 at ausland / Saturday, 26.10.2024

The percussionist, electronic musician and bassist Burkhard Beins is celebrating his sixtieth birthday as a constantly reinventing veteran and companion of Berlins Echtzeitmusik. For this occasion, he invites a 60-sextet made up of Berlin scene and international guests, old and new companions, for a very special, collectively improvised birthday concert as part of the series ‘biegungen im ausland’.

Also in 2024, Trio Sowari is celebrating its 20th year of existence. Since 2004, the trio has played at numerous international festivals and venues throughout Europe. Respectively based in London, Paris and Berlin, Phil Durrant, Bertrand Denzler and Burkhard Beins never cease to widen the scope of their research at the crossroads of different acoustic and electronic worlds.

Burkhard Beins, born 1964 in Lower Saxony, lives in Berlin since 1995. As a composer/performer working in the fields of experimental music and sound art he is known for his definitive use of percussion in combination with selected sound objects. Furthermore, he works with live-electronics/analog synthesizers, plays bass guitar, and has conceived several sound installations.

Since the late 1980s Beins performs at internationally renowned venues and festivals throughout Europe, America, Australia, Asia and has released more than 70 CDs and LPs by now. Next to his solo work he is a member of several ensembles like Sawt Out, Polwechsel, Marmalsana, Trio Sowari, Erosão Percussion Trio, Slurge, Zone Null, or Splitter Orchester and also works with composer-performers such as Sven-Åke Johansson, Keith Rowe, Ignaz Schick, Chris Abrahams, John Butcher, or Lotte Anker.
