The Lake presents an excellent one day festival featuring many D/B favourites such as Omar Souleyman, Jaki Liebezeit & Burnt Friedman, Wildbirds & Peacedrums and many more.
The headliner for the first By the Lake festival is none other than Omar Souleyman. The Syrian singer, who has made a name for himself in the western music world with remixes for Björk, has made over 500 records to date – the majority of them gifts for the new couples at the wedding parties he performs. His new record “Bahdemi Nami” is co-produced by Modeselektor and will be released in July through Monkeytown Records.
Jaki Liebezeit is considered to be one of the most significant drummers in the world. As a founding member of the legendary CAN he played beats like no one else and anticipated the loops of modern club music by years. Together with Burnt Friedman, they have been exploring the laws of rhythm for more than ten years; extreme manipulation, percussive overdubs and sequencer-like guitars and synthesizers build the frames of music for which the boundaries of notation are unknown. A very exciting project, that embodies „By the Lake“’s musical vision perfectly.

A match made in heaven – Swedish husband and wife power duo Mariam Wallentin and Andreas Werliin met at the Gothenburg Academy of Music in 2004 and put out their first record “Heartcore” in 2008, working almost exclusively with vocals and drums. Their latest release “Rhythm“ came out last year on The Leaf Label. Both artists are engaged in multiple exciting acts like Fire! Orchestra, Mariam the Believer, and Time is a Mountain but with Wildbirds & Peacedrums they strip it down and turn primal musical elements into pure magic. Expect a captivating dance between battle and surrender, constantly on the move and performed with overwhelming musicianship, you’ve never seen anything quite like this.
