Caudal + Felix-Florian Tödtloff at Tiefgrund / Thursday, 14.01.2016

Caudal, a trio of Canadian guitarist Aidan Baker (of Nadja, Adoran, etc.), Irish bassist Gareth Sweeney (formerly of Gout), and Colombian drummer Felipe Salazar (of Muerte En Pereira), formed in 2012 in Berlin, Germany. Baker’s multi-layered, heavily affected guitar overlays Sweeney and Salazar’s driving, propulsive rhythm section creating music equally influenced by motorik krautrock, post-punk, and spacerock.

The trio released their debut album, “Forever In Another World,” on the environmental charity label Oaken Palace Records in 2012. Their second album, “Ascension,” was released in September 2014 on the Belgian labelConsouling Sounds, followed by a 12″ ep, “Murk,” in the spring of 2015 on Germany’s MIDIRA RECORDS.

In a relentless quest for solemn beauty in sound, Berlin based musician and producer Felix-Florian Tödtloff takes multiple paths. Whether performing solo under the moniker Sferics, where he creates lush ambient pads on the electric guitar or in the black metal group Sun Worship, building a wall of atmospheric noise, his music always aims to push the listener towards a meditative state.

Recently Tödtloff has started performing under his real name, experimenting with tape collages, modular synthesis, and interactive visuals to expand his musical expression, while maintaining a minimalist approach in his setup.
