A great lineup at Certain People this month with Forest Swords showcasing their fantastic new album Compassion on Ninja Tunes.
Forest Swords, aka acclaimed Merseyside-based producer Matthew Barnes, returns with his eagerly anticipated new full-length record. “Compassion”, the follow-up to 2013’s critically lauded debut “Engravings”, will be released on 5th May 2017 via Ninja Tune. The album will be followed by a set of multidisciplinary projects expanding the themes and concepts across wider disciplines, overseen by Forest Swords’ own Dense Truth, an experimental art studio and record label.
Blanck Mass is the solo project of Benjamin John Power. The Fuck Buttons musician, making music under the moniker since 2010, has now signed to Sacred Bones for the project’s next album. Beyond his personal work, Ben has taken his collaborations cross media. He supported Sigur Ros on their colossal 2013 world tour, provided remixes for Mogwai’s Music Industry 3. Fitness Industry 1. and most recently here for John Carpenter’s Lost Themes.
Erika M. Anderson first graced the limelight under the guise of EMA in May 2011, when the brilliantly scuffed debut album Past Life Martyred Saints was released to a multitude of acclaim. After having spent time in the California underground fronting the genre-defying cult duo Gowns with Ezra Buchla, Past Life Martyred Saints offered a deeper glimpse into the world of EMA. An absorbing and ambitious masterpiece that revealed a unique and feed-backed noisy guitar style, a skill for visceral songwriting and a DIY recording ethos, it showcased a distinctive sonic signature that sounded like nothing else around.
