Dark Sky and Throwing Snow at Gretchen / Thursday, 12.10.2017

Matt Benyayer and Thomas Edwards together make up the London based production duo Dark Sky. Having grown up together, Dark Sky formed in 2009 out of a mutual love for the ever evolving London electronic music scene, a love that the pair have always reflected through not only their DJ sets but also their productions.

Fast forward a few years and the London based duo have repeatedly toured the globe, remixed the likes of The xx and Maya Jane Coles via Bombay Bicycle Club and Kelis and have released music with Mister Saturday Night, 50WEAPONS, Black Acre, Tectonic, Pictures Music and Monkeytown records.

Dark Sky’s debut album ‘imagin’ lead to the development of their hardware heavy live show and over the past twelve months Dark Sky have performed live throughout Europe with notable appearances at Glastonbury, The Warehouse Project, Sub Club, Melt, DGTL, Robot Festival and countless others. The show has wowed audiences with live re-works of their album tracks and back catalogue, truly showcasing not only the depth and quality of their recording career so far but also their talent to perform live as well being highly competent DJs. To sample the breadth of their tastes, tune into their monthly radio show on NTS.

London based migrant Ross Tones makes music under the ever so pertinent moniker Throwing Snow. Drawing influences from a vast array of genres encompassing dubstep, UK funky, house and post-rock, his productions have a consistent comforting warmth and glistening coldness. Following his compelling debut on Alex Nut’s Ho_Tep in late 2010 he has since been in hot demand for remixes reworking tracks from the likes of Gold Panda, Kidkanevil and Greymatter. Radio support from Gilles Peterson and Benji B followed with guest appearances on Sinden’s Kiss FM and Ministry of Sound. 2011 has seen Mr. Tones inaugurate two new labels, Left_Blank and Snow Fall, the latter releasing his own acclaimed Un Vingt / Cronos Remixed.

With remixes for Domino and Ninja Tune, releases on Raffertie’s Super imprint with hotly tipped vocalist PY, Jamie Russel’s Sneaker Social Club and a forthcoming 12” for Local Action; it appears that this hotly tipped producer will have little difficulty living up to the accompanying hype.
