Hot on the heels of his new album release on Drag City, The Plain Where the Palace Stood, outstanding guitarist David Grubbs returns to Berlin as part of an extensive European tour.
The american guitarist will be joined on this occasion by Andrea Belfi and Stefano Pilia. With support from Miasmah’s Svarte Greiner this is guaranteed to be an exceptional evening.
As a member of Gastr del Sol together with Jim O’Rourke, Grubbs played a pivotal role in the evolution of post-rock. David Grubbs (born September 21, 1967), composer, guitarist, pianist, and vocalist, was a founding member of Squirrel Bait, Bastro, and Gastr del Sol. He has also played in Codeine, The Red Krayola, Bitch Magnet and The Wingdale Community Singers.

While we Chicago heads try and fail to tame March’s wild lion, David Grubbs is one full step ahead of the calendar with The Plain Where The Palace Stood set to drop on the 16th of April. Cultured man that he be, Professor Grubbs love a jaunt through Europe every opportunity he gets – and what better opportunity than those presented by the release of such a rockingly erudite LP of songs and meditations, a track of which is available for free listenin’ here on the DC site!
In plain and stately tones, a legacy is repossessed and a guitar tone is unleashed once again. Pop experiments with pop. Not all mid-life crises have to be so gauche, you know? This album is a class act — college credit will apply.
