American Singer-Songwriter Diane Cluck brings to life the essence of folk in her music and voice. She has studied piano from an early age and has become known as one of the more unique styled guitar players. She began to perform her Neo-Folk songs in New York and quickly became a mainstay in the New York folk scene. Diane has performed at cafes and venues during her early years and still presents her music in an organic way. Diane once ran a “Song of the Week” project where she wrote songs directly for her fans. Diane Cluck is on her European tour promoting her seventh and latest album “Boneset” and has officially released a music video for her single “Sara”.

Questions
What is the biggest inspiration for your music?
Plants, textiles, food, sex. There’s a lot I could say, but these are general broad categories that turn me on, again and again.
How and when did you get into making music?
I’ve been making music since I was born; I don’t know how it happened but it’s a natural human condition.
What are your 5 favourite albums of all time?
Three albums I’m currently enjoying are Josephine Foster’s “I’m A Dreamer”, Turner Cody’s “Last of the Big Time spenders”, and Rising Appalachia’s “Filthy Dirty South”.
What do you associate with Berlin?
Laissez-faire attitude, which I like. American society’s become terribly nosey / surveillant.
What’s your favourite place in your town?
My house!
If there was no music in the world, what would you do instead?
Dance and make love…I mean that in the broadest sense…which would certainly create music.
What was the last record you bought?
An old 78 of songs sung by Bea Wain. She was born in 1917 and is still alive!
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
I’d like to make an EP with Turner Cody. He’s an amazing lyricist.
What was your best gig (as performer or spectator)?
I recently witnessed Lonesome Leash (Walt McClements’ one-man-band project) at The Columbus Theatre in Providence, Rhode Island , and was exhilarated and moved by his performance.
How important is technology to your creative process?
It’s important that it helps more than it hinders.
Do you have siblings and are they proud or jealous of you?
I have two sisters and they’ve told me they are proud of me.
