Following his appearance at D/B’s Music Salon in the summer, our favourite vibraphone player returns to Berlin for what is sure to be another spellbinding performance.
[audio:Masayoshi Fujita & Jan Jelinek – Undercurrent.mp3]Masayoshi Fujita (el fog, originally from japan and now Berlin based) plays and composes mainly on the vibraphone, using electronics, loops, live-processing, etc. He has been influenced and inspired by electronic music, dub, jazz, hip hop, etc, and pursues his own sound and own world.
Being influenced by classic, jazz and many other kinds of music, but not following ordinary vibraphone play style and theory of composition, Masayoshi seeks his own sound of vibraphone, and new possibility of it.
He makes also unique and beautiful sound using bows (for string instruments), strings of beads and other objects on his vibraphone.
The music he makes has very unique atmosphere and suggests images and stories to the listener.

After a 4 month journey across Asia and the Himalayan Mountains, Will Samson returned to his mother land, the United Kingdom to begin translating his experiences into music which became the album ‘Never Give Up’. Whereas on this album the music has more of a post-rock feeling, his new album ‘Hello Friends, Goodbye Friends’ leans more towards mellow, atmospheric driven folk.
