It’s hard to fathom that one of Europe’s most forward-thinking musical endeavours is found in a setting that only echoes of the past. However, that’s exactly what Poland’s award-winning Tauron Nowa Muzyka Festival does: Digging out the most creative and innovative Electronica artists and showcasing them at the unusual surroundings of the New Silesian Museum, a terrain that for over a century has been used as a fully functional coal mine.
For four days in August 2016, visitors will be able to see outstanding acts such as BATTLES, FAT FREDDY’S DROP, KID SIMIUS, THE FIELD and ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER amongst the striped smokestacks and wide-windowed coal halls of Katowice.

The three times winner of ‘Best Small European Festival’ will present its artists on several outdoor stages, in an evangelical church, and amidst avant-garde light- and art installations. With its distinct combination of contemporary music and the architectural heritage of its location, Tauron Nowa Muzyka has
evolved into a festival that attracts artists and audiences from around the world.
Some of the performing artists: The Field (SWE), Lena Willikens (DE), Tarwater (DE), Plaid (UK), Prins Thomas (NOR), Hieroglyphic Being (USA), Kamasi Washington (US), Battles (US), Floating Points (UK), Lubomyr Melnyk (UA), Masayoshi Fujita (JP), King Midas Sound & Fennesz (UK/AT), The Orb (UK/DE), Actress (UK).
