NOME is pleased to announce a concert by Francesco Donadello on May 27, 2023 at 7:30 PM. This is the fourth concert in the series Sounds and Traces, curated by Luciano Chessa.
Francesco Donadello creates sounds with analog synths and acoustic material, then processes them with old tape machines, cassettes, and other analog gear. However, he considers the modular synth like any other instrument. Donadello has collaborated many artists, including Johann Johannsson, Hildur Gudnaddottir, Modeselektor & Thom Yorke, Moderat, Mouse on Mars, David Sylvian, Ben Frost, and Chilly Gonzales. He has also worked on the recently released TV series Tár, All Quiet On The Western Front, and Chernobyl.
Francesco Donadello will present Synecdoche, a completely improvised live set based on modular synth and various kinds of tape machines. The concept is based on the interaction-feedback between instruments with the organic and unpredictable behavior of complex patches and the reaction-action to the generated sounds. Synth patches are created on the same day and modified during the performance based on the surrounding environment. Based on an old idea of closing the loop between composition and performance, this will add a layer of complexity, searching for unexpected responses from the musical instrument and leaving a part of the creativity to the machines themselves.
Suoni e Tracce * Sounds and Traces * Klänge und Spuren is a multi-part sonic program consisting of five concerts curated by Luciano Chessa from August 27, 2022 to Summer 2023.
