When Andrew Hung and Benjamin John Power get together as Fuck Buttons, a unique chemistry emerges and nothing else is allowed to interfere.
As Power puts it: “The one fundamental rule remains: we are in the same room when we write. The rest is all fair game.”
Fuck Buttons have never really stopped writing together in the time between albums. “The actual writing for Slow Focus began fairly soon after we stopped touring,” says Hung.

Power adding “If we’ve had any time off, it’s been a few months, so though both albums might seem like two isolated events to everyone else, it doesn’t seem as much so to us. They’re more like snapshots of an ever evolving mess.”
Fuck Buttons latest opus Slow Focus is the first record they’ve produced themselves; it’s an album that attempts insular resonance.

Using repetition to create hypnotic and suggestive states, Slow Focus veers ever more wildly between these parameters; a whole mood-shift taking place to darker, more turbulent evocations – something suggested as much in the album’s title.
The kind of electronic music that Irish duo Forrests make is best suited to headphones, piped deep into your grey matter as you sink into your carpet at home.

Chances are it’d also take your breath away played at an ungodly volume in a field or club. Their trick is a neat one: take the jittery field recording qualities of Sigur Ros, and mash them with the warm static glow of Fuck Buttons.
Zan Lyons is a violinist, electronic composer and filmmaker. He is a second-generation Trinidadian of Asian and African descent.
Zan began making music as a teenger with a handful of releases on Foundry records and Moshi Moshi as well as remixes for Super Furry Animals and Panic DHH.

Zan is best know for his uncompromising live shows where he fuses live viola looping with frenetic distorted beats and real-time remixing of his own films.
Alec Empire was an early mentor of Zan’s work, with Zan playing in Empire’s live band the Hellish Vortex.
