Having released their debut LP “Soundtrack for a Game of Chess” last year and before they play this year’s Garbicz Festival, Berlin’s Polychrome Sounds re delighted that Karpov not Kasparov have made their way from Bucharest to this city to play a live show in very special company.
Karpov not Kasparov combine oriental synths and beatific live drums, creating a trancendental sound somewhere between 90s Romanian manele and darker modern dancefloors. Expect accompanying dancers and plenty of Palincă.

The second act comes in the shape of Fleeting Wax’s Mehmet Aslan. Orginating from Basel, Mehmet has made a name for himself with some outstanding edit and remix work of Turkish folk and disco tracks, as well as his regular sets at Wilde Renate. Having cut K.not K.’s “Mechanical Turk” for a club dancefloor and currently working together on new material, he’s the perfect foil for some post-concert revellery.
Come early and stay late, with host djs SpatzHabibi easing all into the afternoon and early evening with their very own, slowed-down take on Eastern mysticism.
