For the series “CC No. 2 – Craving Coincidence”, ausland invited six musicians to curate a 2-day mini festival each. After a long pandemic break, we’re excited to present Kazuhisa Uchihashi’s “Honeycomb Festival” at WABE on August 20th + 21st and finally meet you again!
Today’s first festival night starts with two duo collaborations of curator Kazuhisa Uchihashi: He’ll open the night together with accordion genius Andrea Parkins, followed by a set together with percussionist Michael Vorfeld, well known for his refined play on cymbals and self built string instruments.
Next and as another premiere, distinctive trumpet players Liz Allbee, Axel Dörner and Mazen Kerbaj will join for a trumpet-trio set which promises unheard explorations of the instrument between the subtle and the noisy, more familiar sounds and individual playing techniques.
Turntablist Joke Lanz and modular synth-virtuoso Richard Scott close the night with their first-time collaboration, giving space for a more electronic sound rooted in pre-digital equipment.
Kazu invited a fabulous range of Berlin-based improvisers and experimental musicians for a programme of eight concerts, featuring many premiere collaborations.
