Jessie Marino and Winnie Huang call their artistic practice in the duo LOOKOUT »post instrumental performance«. Based on a musical language that is closely connected to the performers’ own physicality and that functions almost exclusively through musically understood gestures, they develop intimate miniatures and pieces. The works are always connected with an abysmal humour that is fed by a benevolently critical perspective on supposedly universally valid body perceptions. LOOKOUT’s works celebrate the human, being-in-the-world and the world itself.
The vocal artist Frauke Aulbert has an exceptional range and flexibility in her exploration of traditional and experimental vocal techniques. She has developed a broad repertoire of contemporary and modern works and is also a fully rounded composer.
At KONTRAKLANG, LOOKOUT and Frauke Aulbert present a programme of their own works and repertoire pieces, all of which revolve around questions of physicality, representation, individual expression and the unifying element of human interaction. KONTRAKLANG is a guest for the third time with this programme at the Neukölln club Arkaoda, which with its unique ambience offers the ideal venue for this concert experience.
