Malte Cornelius Jantzen and René Margraff at Spektrum Berlin / Saturday, 27.05.2017

As a launch event for their new split release on Second Editions, Malte Cornelius Jantzen and René Margraff will both perform live at Neukölln’s premier art-space Spektrum this May, presented by Digital in Berlin.

Malte Cornelius Jantzen works with magnetic tape to completely disembowel musical structures, only to put them back together into longform compositions. Music as reduction. Reduction of music as music. Music as architecture. Last year saw his two-part debut release via the mysterious Low Perspective label, and now teaming up with René Margraff for a split on Second Editions.

MCJ has given selected performances in e.g. Berlin, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Prag, Reykjavik, Glasgow and London. “Something that is continuous at its core, with a constant and gently boiling surface. But just when you think it’s stabilized, things start to shift in subtle but relatively major ways. Very interesting manipulations of near subliminal texture clots.” – The Wire 02/2017
