On five evenings, Manos Tsangaris, composer and director of the Music Section at the Akademie der Künste, is transforming the Akademie building on Hanseatenweg into a dense web of music theatre miniatures. winzig und der Elefant is the title of his playful work of music theatre, which uses contemporary station theatre to place listeners at the centre of a piece in which all the intersecting lines of the composition, space and the world come together.
A dialogical continuation of winzig ‒ a multiform work of music theatre that composer Manos Tsangaris began in 1993 ‒ the new production features additional miniatures in dialogue with writer Kathrin Röggla’s project Der Elefant im Raum (The Elephant in the Room).
winzig und der Elefant follows a concept of ‟scenic anthropology” that Manos Tsangaris has developed over the past 40 years. Human beings and their entire spectrum of perceptual skills and capacities lie at the heart of a practice of composition and staged presentation.
Other dates on 24th and 30th May.
