Like most Ocher releases, Your Guide To Revolution navigates a rich tapestry of musical landscapes, like a wondrously curated playlist. It ranges from the cheekily titled glitch of “Digital Molam” which is everything but traditional Thai music, via the proto-industrial “Museum of Childhood Terror”, and post-punk inflections of “I Am The Occupation”, to the trilogy of pieces based on fusion harpist Dorothy Ashby and 12th century Persian poet Omar Khyyam’s legendary Rubaiyat pieces.
Guests on the album include the harpist Serafina Steer (Bas Jan/Jarvis Cocker), Irish composer and songwriter Nina Hynes, among others.Much like its title, Your Guide to Revolution is unapologetic. It weaves an alliance between writer and listener, calling out for civil disobedience. The album comes at a time when many governments cannot be excused for their actions, making the refusal to hate a subversive, revolutionary act.
With their new album ATOLLS, Leipzig-based Ambient Kraut Jazz collective Malo Moray & His Inflatable Knee explore the connection and distance between humankind and nature – a melting pot of sonic exploration and surprises woven around the core of connecting people through Music. Grammy winner Marc Urselli (Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson) produced three years of digitally mediated intimate sessions into a dazzlingly noisy sonic cosmos between ambient, krautrock, experimental jazz and neo-classical. Malo Moray shapes an album for fans of Brian Eno, Sunn O))), Swans, Soundwalk Collective and all adventurous music that fits no box.
