Together they introduce an urban mix of genre spanning acoustic sound. Electronic influences are clearly audible, yet jazz, pop, funk and hiphop based grooves provide the breeding ground on which the spaciously arranged Songs of Mira Mode unfold. Mira Mode features Jazz singer Tanja Pannier and Rapper Simple. http://miramode.de | http://www.myspace.com/miramode
Their intense and catchy, often multi voiced vocals are carried, carressed and contrasted by a multi layered instrumental performance of swift string phrases, fleet footed brass interjections and warm Rhodes harmonics upon a rich groove foundation. Approximating a comparison with Nu Soul Star 4 Hero from London, admiring eyes are also being cast on experimental icons as “Jimi tenor“ and “Jaga Jazzist“.
Well-known to Berlins Jazz scene, Ede Merkel (former composer and manager of Ida Helms) worked a full year with both vocalists adding lyrics, melodies and hooklines to his songs and arrangements. The result is a number of songs, of which three were recorded with fellow musicians at “Studio Wong“ in Berlin last december. This comprises Mira Modes first EP called “Movin“ which was finished in spring 2009. This EP is witness to the creative impact of the upcoming musicians. Mira Mode will perform their complete set with full instrumentation live on stage in Fall 2009.
