Mr Silla and Uma at arkaoda / Wednesday, 23.01.2019

Arkaoda kicks of another great year of concerts with the fantastic double bill of folktronica and electro-pop this January where Mr Silla and Uma will both perform live.

Emerging from her involvement with influential bands such as múm and Mice parade, Sigurlaug Gísladóttir, aka Mr. Silla, has blossomed into a creative force of reckoning. Matched only by a truly honest and evocative stage presence, the musically transcendent ebb and flow of Mr. Silla is as breathtaking as it is life giving. The often ethereal sonic landscapes explored on her self-titled debut album, released on 12 tónar, is even more proof of what the creative hatchery of Iceland has to offer.

UMA (Ella and Florian) are a berlin based indietronic duo who released their 2nd album If You Fall, Someone Will Notice on 28th September. The album is an evolution from their debut self titled album released in 2014. The album includes the singles A Remedy (to argue how i feel) and What We Fear Is Lost. It has the moody feeling of a futuristic dystopian soundtrack but has strong messages of togetherness and oneness. Mixing pop and experimental electronica the album draws on its Berlin influences and the atmosphere of Berlin’s Funkhaus.
