From August 26 to September 18, 2023, Berlin’s concert life will kick off the new season with the 19th edition of Musikfest Berlin, produced by the Berliner Festspiele in co-operation with the Stiftung Berliner Philharmoniker.
In 28 events of Musikfest Berlin 2023, over 60 works by around 45 composers will be presented in the Philharmonie Berlin, in its Chamber Music Hall and in the Gethsemanekirche. 25 orchestras, instrumental and vocal ensembles and more than 50 international soloists will perform at the festival.
In addition to the major Berlin orchestras, guests include: From the USA, the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Andris Nelsons; from Great Britain, John Eliot Gardiner with his Monteverdi Choir and the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique as well as Sir Simon Rattle with the London Symphony Orchestra; from the Netherlands, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam and Iván Fischer; from Belgium, the Collegium Vocale Gent with Philippe Herreweghe and the B’Rock Orchestra with Alexander Melnikov; and from Tel Aviv, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and Lahav Shani as well as the Māhbānoo Ensemble with Iranian musicians. The German guests include the Munich Philharmonic with Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, the Bayerisches Staatsorchester with Vladimir Jurowski, the Ensemble Modern and the Ensemble Modern Orchestra, each conducted by Sir George Benjamin.
