Episode no. 5 of Occulto aquatic 2015 season is happening in the middle of August and is a beautiful occasion for many reasons: it’s the first collaboration between Occulto and Spektrum, it proudly hosts the first live set of Berlin based JD Zadie in the venue – presenting new material and exploring further the boundaries between dj mixing, composition and improvisation – and welcome the performance of a new Italian impro duo composed by Devid Ciampalini (percussions, speakersand Ezio Piermattei (viola prepared, voice, tapes.)
JD Zazie is a DJ, turntablist and sound artist based in Berlin. As a solo performer and in her many collaborations she explores different approaches to real-time manipulation of recorded sounds. Intended as music instruments, CDjs, turntables and mixer are her tools to mix the chosen sound-sources – mostly electronic and electroacoustic music, musique concrète, field recordings and impros. Juxtaposition, decontextualization, fragmentation, repetition, sonic texture, scratch and errors are elements of the grammar adopted to relate, organize and rearrange the sound material. She is co-founder of Studio Urban Resonance (w/Olaf Schäfer), a member of the Italian label Burp Enterprise and director of MuseRuole Festival. She also co-runs Staalplaat Radio.
Devid Ciampalini is a musician/experimenter active in the underground circuit. He works with contact microphones and “micronoises”, deconstructing the body pulse in kinetic noise and interacting with her body. His work digs in the transformation of expression through field recordings of sounds and guttural voices modified in real time. His eclectic path is made of psychedelia, free and noise music. He’s active with his solo project Dived, he’s the founder of the association “Ambient-Noise Session” and he also militates in the collective projects Metzengerstein and Holy Hole.
Ezio Piermattei has been described as a real outsider and a self-taught maverick. He’s been active under several names – Poisucevamachenille, Autopugno, Hum Of Gnats – before settling down with his given name; among his releases there’s a collaborative tape with Dan Melchior inspired by Claudio Rocchi’s music. The melodic vein of earlier productions – resulting in rough, crooked sketches of pop songs – and the use of sampled sounds and synth beats recently left room to pure sounds – more noise, rhythm – without losing the playful attitude: tapes played at the wrong speed, brass and string instruments, amplified objects, fragments of non-sense speeches.

Live music must be over at 10pm at the latest. Come early, there’s a nice bar, Occulto + Boring Machines distro and time for a chat sitting outside.
