Bicinien by Olivia Stahn and Tim Karweick is the first release from the Berlin based label Corinne de Berne. The LP includes pieces by Michael Praetorius, Caspar Othmayr, Josquin Desprez and Guillaume de Machaut and was recorded in a church near Hamburg.
To celebrate the release, Olivia and Tim will play the record to the audience and sing along with it simultaneously in a vocal/acousmatic performance.
Following the concert, the artist Stephen Nolan (Dublin/Weimar) will recite from his recent textual work.
Bicinien is the result of a wholistic production process: Stahn and Karweick‘s initial selection of pieces, the spacial constellation of their collective and individual voice, the space of Heilig-Geist-Kirche in Wohltorf, the recording techniques. Bicinien is not so much a document as a figural material pliable still for a new ear. Bicinien is released for the listener on vinyl (including free download).
