Philip Glass (born January 31, 1937) is an American music composer. He is considered one of the most influential composers of the late 20th century and is widely acknowledged as a composer who has brought art music to the public (along with precursors such as Richard Strauss, Kurt Weill and Leonard Bernstein).
Kronos Quartet is a string quartet founded by violinist David Harrington in 1973 in Seattle, Washington.
Kronos covers a very broad range of musical genres: Mexican folk, experimental, pre-classical early music, movie soundtracks (Requiem for a Dream, Heat, The Fountain), jazz and tango. Kronos has also recorded adaptations of Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze”, Sigur Rós’s “Flugufrelsarinn”, Television’s “Marquee Moon”, and Raymond Scott’s “Dinner Music for a Pack of Hungry Cannibals”.

The Music and Film, mit der neu komponierten Originalmusik von Philip Glass, aufgeführt vom Komponisten Philip Glass höchstpersönlich, mit dem Kronos Quartet und mit Michael Riesman (Dirigent und Keyboards).
Philip Glass, einer der wichtigsten zeitgenössischen Komponisten (zahlreiche Opern, u.a. „Einstein on the Beach“, „The Fall of the House of Usher“, unzählige Werke für Orchester und Kammermusik, aber auch legendäre Filmmusiken wie „Koyaanisqatsi“, „The Truman Show“, „The Illusionist“ oder „Watchmen“), hat zu dem legendären Dracula-Film von Bela Lugosi von 1931 einen Soundtrack komponiert.

Das Kronos Quartet, das experimentierfreudige und weltweit gefeierte Streichquartett, wird diese Musik zusammen mit dem Komponisten Philip Glass unter der Leitung des Dirigenten Michael Riesman live zu dem Film aufführen.
Eine außerordentliche Produktion, die eigentlich weltweit nur auf ausgewählten Festivals gezeigt wird. Die Aufführung ist komplett bestuhlt und wird erst nach Anbruch der Dunkelheit beginnen. Präsentiert von der Konzertagentur Berthold Seliger.
