Composer and pianist Rachel Grimes released her solo piano album Book of Leaves in 2009 and is widely known for her work with the pioneering indie chamber group RacheI’s, who released six albums on Ouarterstick/Touch 8.
[audio:Rachel Grimes – Long Before Us.mp3] She has finished a new record with King’s Daughters 8. Sons and is creating a new chamber piece for New York’s SITI Company. Rachel works with filmmakers and choreographers, and has recently performed alongside the Swell Season, Bonnie Prince Billy and On Fillmore.
Rachel’s is an American band that formed in Louisville, Kentucky in 1991. Former Rodan guitarist, Jason Noble, played music individually and referred to himself as Rachel’s but then began collaborating with now core members, violist Christian Frederickson, and pianist Rachel Grimes.

The group’s work is strongly influenced by classical music, particularly inspired by the minimalist music of the late 20th century, and its composition reflects this.
Masayoshi Fujita (el fog, originally from japan and now Berlin based) plays and composes mainly on the vibraphone, using electronics, loops, live-processing, etc. He has been influenced and inspired by electronic music, dub, jazz, hip hop, etc, and pursues his own sound and own world.
He decided to learn how to play the drums, followed by extensive vibraphone training to craft and play his own, mostly jazz and electronic-influenced compositions. In 2009 Masayoshi released his phenomenal album “Rebuilding Vibes” on the Flau label and most recently he has collaborated with Jan Jelinek, releasing their album “Bird, Lake, Objects” on Faitiche.
