Resistance – when do we develop it, what opportunities does it offer? The discussion of resistance is a personal, social and political one, also with regard to the misuse of the term. There are enough current occasions between pandemics, protests and conflicts that can be observed worldwide to investigate them questioningly. On this path, the composer Lutz Glandien and the choreographer Jiří Bartovanec have encountered, among others, the Résistance, Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Georg Floyd.
This collaboration resulted in a composition and a choreography created especially for this place and space in 2021, based on a poem by Mireille Gansel. The work is an artistic research on the concept of resistance, and against divisive developments and wants to be both an encouragement and a call to take an active stand against injustice. It will be performed by dancers from the Czech Republic and Berlin, with music by Johanna Knauth (soprano) and the ensemble unitedberlin under the direction of Erich Wagner.
