Trish Keenan, the lead singer of one of our favourite Bands Broadcast died on on Friday 14 January 2011, according to an announcement made by Warp.
[audio:Broadcast-Tender Buttons-01-I Found the F.mp3] She died of pneumonia at the age of 42. The future of the band is currently unknown. We will miss your music.
Broadcast are an electronic music band, based in Hungerford, England. The band’s style is a mixture of electronic sounds and Keenan’s 1960s-influenced vocals. It is heavily influenced by the 1960s American psychedelic group The United States of America, using many of the same electronic effects.

The band has released three albums, several EPs, two singles and EP collections. In October 2009, Broadcast released a collaborative mini-album with The Focus Group called Broadcast and The Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age. In late 2009 their song “I Found the F” was covered by Gravenhurst on the Warp20 compilation.
Before her tragic passing, Ms. Keenan sent a friend an intriguing mixtape filled with wonderful music whose level of obscurity and beauty accurately reflects the wondrous vision which one could always find in Broadcast.
