On October 30th 2018 composer Sam Slater, cellist and composer Hildur Guðnadóttir, Viola Da Gamba player Liam Byrne and visual artist Theresa Baumgartner will perform at Wedding’s Silent Green. Slater’s new record, released on Iceland’s Bedroom Community and is crafted from a single string which is subsequently processed into a whole new instrument, is described “a captivating record; ominous and harsh; soft and emotionally striking.
It surrounds your senses with unearthly drones and alien cries, yet it all pulses with a human heart”. He will be performing pieces from this alongside acclaimed performer and cellist Hildur Guðnadóttir, surrounded by the deep visual world of Baumgartner fresh off her tours alongside JLIN, Stranger Things and JASSS.
Byrne will open the evening continuing his unique Vila Da Gamba stylings, by performing the instrument’s most obscure 16th and 17th century repertoire which is a recurring theme in his work, whether in devising baroque performance installations for the Victoria & Albert museum, or in collaboration with the Appalachian fiddler Cleek Schrey, or creating new electronic works with Icelandic composer Valgeir Sigurðsson. He will be performing pieces from his upcoming record on Bedroom Community, also featuring recent compositions by Nico Muhly and Sigurðsson.
