This May at Spektrum in Neukölln Schneider TM will give a exclusive premiere performance of his piece Mobilee which was released on Kompakt records last year. Visual accompaniment will come from Pani K so this is sure to be an audio-visual feast for the senses.
5 tracks of varying fequencies & structures looped at unequal lengths to create an eternally shifting system of generative music. SCHNEIDER TM aka Dirk Dresselhaus is well-known for most diverse projects and collaborations across genres since the 1990s, which oscillate extensively between adventurous electronic pop-music and experimental, sometimes improvised freeform music, while occasionally bringing these and other opposing elements together.
MOBILEE is comprised of originally 5 stems with differing lengths, structures and frequency ranges that have been worked into one final composition and keep on shifting against each other, creating a generative system in the process. It was originally conceived for a sound installation in the context of the “Doofe Musik” Festival 2014 at HKW, Berlin, and is constituted of 5 abstracted treatments of one and the same source material. The lengths of the 5 versions vary between approx. 3 and 63 minutes, and cover different frequencies, from lows to highs that are both on the brink of the audible kHz range.
The actual sound mobile was composed of a subwoofer and 4 stereo speakers which were attached to a metal construction at the height of 3,5 meters, hanging freely in the foyer of the HKW between objects from the text of the original piece. By changing their positions in the room, listeners and viewers could set their own sonic priorities, thus themselves intervening in the mix – which in correspondence with the never-repeating musical moments created a situation of potential infinitude. MOBILEE was released as limited CD album via KOMPAKT as first edition of EXPONATE, a new concept series curated by Wolfgang Voigt with the intention to bring together artists from diverse experimental music backgrounds. The live version presented at Spektrum will be mixed & processed live and sonically taken even further than the original.
Pani K aka Kasia Justka is a Polish multimedia artist based in Berlin. Her work capitalizes on her obsessions with the medium of electricity and weird organic sounds. Her art can be seen as invocations to the vast power inherent within electronic systems and networks. With this conceptual frame in mind Kasia fashions a dynamic order and form from primitive entropy. Using light, sound images and objects as her tools, her intuitive and analogue based performances have led to collaborations with theaters, galleries, fashion designers, artists and festivals, including Electrovision London, Transvisualia, Free Form Festival, CynetArt_08, Unsound Festival, Piksel in Norway, Warsaw Electronic Festival, gallery Zacheta, WRO Bienale, TR Warszawa, Volksbuhne and others.
