Launched in 2015 by astvaldur, smog, Lvis Mejía and DEKJ, oqko explore the realms of sound-art and experimental electronic music through genre-evading releases by artists such as Romain Iannone, astvaldur, -N and Lvis Mejia. The label has so far received the support from media which include BBC Radio One, Resident Advisor, Mixmag UK, DJ Mag UK, Groove, Trax Magazine, Electronic Sound, XLR8R, Clash Magazine, Create Digital Music and Secret Thirteen.
The core of the label has spent the past year travelling the world, playing festivals like Visiones Sonoras in Mexico, Dark Music Days in Iceland and New Frontiers in Russia and will be celebrating it’s second anniversary on September 23rd at Berghain Kantine. All four founders of the label will perform special live sets alongside a string of guests – Japanese sound artist Daisuke Ishida, Berlin Community Radio and Purple Tape Pedigree affiliate Dis Fig, and Siberian experimentalist HMOT.
