Splitter Orchester w/ Yuko Kaseki at KulturRaum Zwingli-Kirche / Friday, 23.5.2025

On the occasion of its 15th anniversary, Berlin based Splitter Orchester presents a series of four site specific concerts at specifically selected locations in the city. Each venue is characterized by a unique history and unmatched acoustic properties that serve as starting points for the creation of one of a kind concert performances.

Together with choreographer and dancer Yuko Kaseki, Splitter Orchester will start off the series at Zwinglikirche in Friedrichshain: combining the awesome creative power of 18 of Berlin’s most prolific and renowned composer-performers and Kaseki’s highly individual take on spatial dynamics and movement. Splitter’s sound can most accurately be described as »sculptural« in the sense that the group is not so much interested in developing music in a traditional way, but rather treating it like a physical material in a space that can be manipulated in real time.

The church space offers many possibilities for the sound of the orchestra to interact with the architecture while Kaseki adds another layer of interaction. Sometimes seemingly conducting the orchestra, at other times moving through and with the musicians, Kaseki’s physical presence will act both in synchronicity with music and space but also as a radical counterpoint.
