Michael Gira has decided to reconvene his legendary group Swans: “THIS IS NOT A REUNION. It’s not some dumb-ass nostalgia act. It is not repeating the past.
After 5 Angels Of Light albums, I needed a way to move FORWARD, in a new direction, and it just so happens that revivifying the idea of Swans is allowing me to do that. “

Gira is aiming at “a tangible re-emersion in the sensation of Swans music rushing through my body in waves, lifting me up towards what, I can only assume, will be my only experience of heaven. I want more of that, before my body breaks down to such an extent that it won’t be possible any more. So I’m doing it. ”
Without previous rehearsals, the new album “My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky” was recorded one song per day. Now Swans are touring Europe with their new outlook on what No-Wave and Post-Punk have to offer. The support act will be James Blackshaw of Michael Giras’ Label Young God Records.
