After years of pursuing Angels of Light and recording and producing a diverse roster of artists for his Young God label, Michael Gira has decided to reconvene his legendary group Swans.
As he says: “THIS IS NOT A REUNION. It’s not some dumb-ass nostalgia act. It is not repeating the past.”
“After 5 Angels Of Light albums, I needed a way to move FORWARD, in a new direction, and it just so happens that revivifying the idea of Swans is allowing me to do that. “

Swans’ recent album “The Seer took 30 years to make. It’s the culmination of every previous Swans album as well as any other music I’ve ever made, been involved in, or imagined.”
“But it’s unfinished, like the songs themselves. It’s one frame in a reel. The frames blur, blend and will eventually fade.”

Swans are supported by Larsen, an Italian band that started with sonic mix of exoteric, hypnotic, brooding chamber rock, that fused This Heat’s mathematical structures, Can’s cerebral jazz-rock, and the Swans’ eerie atmospheres.
Later on they were somewhat inspired by Autechre’s music, veereing towards the aesthetics of free-form glitch electronica while retaining the post-rock format.
