On 18 and 25 September, Berlin’ s innovatives und striking music ensemble Kaleidoskop will be performing the music installation Tanz dem Tanz in the unique spaces of the Sammlung Hoffmann as part of the Month of Contemporary Music. We have a long relationship with the Hoffmann Collection, one of the most important private collections of contemporary art in Europe. In the collection inhabited by Erika Hoffmann, the artworks of the displayed will interacted with musical works, sounds and voices.
The current installation at Sammlung Hoffmann is about departure and movement – the audience moves through the rooms, which are connected to each other with a fine web of sounds. The musical works thereby unfold a sonic level that interacts with the artworks on display. Compositions by Hildegard von Bingen, Meredith Monk, Sky Macklay, Claude Vivier and others, which deal with temporality and transitions, new beginnings and farewells, the audience is drawn into a polyphonic round dance through the collection rooms.
At the same time, it is a farewell, both to the artworks and to the temporary public venue, as the artworks will pass to the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden as a donation next year. With music by Hildegard von Bingen, Gloria Coates, James Dillon, Zygmunt Krauze, Sky Macklay, Meredith Monk, Felix Profos, Michael Rauter, Rebecca Saunders, Franz Schubert, Grégoire Simon, Chiyoko Szlavnics, Claude Vivier and Isang Yun.
