Establishing a band was once the way out of the working class fate; today, it is well known that occupational therapy of gilded youth with high status anxiety is more common. We cannot know if that applies equally to TENTS, but we don’t really give a damn. What counts is that they know how to play around with this insight.
In ‘Sabbatical’, the crisp first forerunner of their album ‘Stars On The GPS Sky’, they advise us to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in our self-help year, to take a painting course in Florence, volunteer on an organic farm, or paddle in a kayak through the sea. In any case, the message is: “Move your asses!”…a band that is also knowledgeable enough to offer as a reference the inevitable live cover of 80’s punk radio pioneers ESG as a follow-up track.
‘I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream’ is a shoegaze / post-punk band from Berlin. They took their band name from a dystopian science fiction short story about survivors of a nuclear war. Musical influences include The Cure and My Bloody Valentine as well as fellow Berlin bands The History of Colour TV, BraBraBra, Skiing, and Jolly Goods, with whom they share current or former band members.
