Film premiere of The Forest Within in the presence of director Sebastian Fritzsch and leading actors Lia von Blarer and Leonard Scheicher, followed by a live set by Jungstötter.
Score composer Gregor Schwellenbach asked Berlin artist Jungstötter to write two new songs for this film. Carried by his voice, somewhere between Mark Hollis and Scott Walker, this playful but complex romantic pop music plays intricately between melancholic, tentative, and sensitively developed. It is both secure and fragile, full of radiance.
Jungstötter, who was born Fabian Altstötter in Palatinate, Germany in 1991, released his solo debut „Love Is“ in 2019, followed by his album „One Star“ in 2023.
The reclusive biology student’s apartment is filled with aquariums, terrariums, and cages. His love for animals connects him with Alice, a radical environmental activist, whom he eventually falls in love with. When Jan slips into a schizophrenic crisis, a heady whirlwind of love and delusion ensues.
