The Group is a loosely-knit collective of musicians based around Peter Broderick, Casper Clausen, Francesco Donadello, Martyn Heyne and Greg Haines. The idea is to perform in an informal, casual and completely improvised way – the music has no “style” and anything goes.
Peter Broderick is an American musician and composer from Carlton, Oregon. He has released solo material under his own name, been a member of Efterklang, and played with several ensembles as a session musician. The Group takes you inside the creative process, and the idea behind the collective’s project is to create something from nothing during their shows.
Broderick was born in the state of Maine in 1987. He learned a number of musical instruments whilst at school, and went on to become a session musician, playing violin, banjo, musical saw, and mandolin on recordings by M. Ward, Zooey Deschanel, Dolorean and others.[2] He played and toured with numerous groups, including Horse Feathers, Norfolk & Western, Loch Lomond and Laura Gibson. In mid-2007, Broderick joined the Danish ensemble Efterklang in Copenhagen to join their touring band after the release of their album Parades.
The Group | Live at Schauspiel Leipzig
It’s an insight to how music and art arise through a creative process, more than it’s a regular concerts with well-known songs. It’s impossible to predict how the show will develop, since The Group’s concerts are completely dedicated to the power of the creative process.
