Torstraßen Festival is returning for it’s fourth year in numerous locations on and around Torstraße in Berlin-Mitte. In cooperation with the venues, cafés, shops and bars in the neighborhood a musical matinee showcase with a current leftfield and cross-genre soundtrack will be presented.
Participating locations are Acud, Bassy Club, Gaststätte W. Prassnik, Grüner Salon, Kaffee Burger, Kim Bar, Platoon Kunsthalle, Roter Salon, St. Oberholz, Waldo Bar and Z-Bar.
[vimeo 102632589 w=620&h=300]Torstrassenfestival invites their guests to be explorers, who are not afraid to trust their curiosity instead of big headliners. It strives to be a forum for current and relevant development within Berlin’s music scenes: for locals, transients and their influencers.
The line-up is huge, here from A-Z:
Africaine 808, Alexander Geist, Alexander Winkelmann, Alis, ATMA, Banque Allemande, Bass Gang, Blackest Ever Black (DJ), Blindspot, Brangelina, Chris Imler, Dylan III, Evy Jane, Ej Bekot, Federico Albanese, Fiordmoss, Islaja, Julie Byrne, Lambert, Magic Island, Miss M.E, Momus, Oum Shatt, Perera Elsewhere, Physical Therapy (DJ), Scarlett O’Hanna, Siinai, Skiing, Sun Worship, Susanna Berivan, Susie Asado & Pablo Dacal, Terekke, Tom Adams, Uri Gincel Trio, Will Samson, Yohuna, Zugezogen Maskulin.

Jahcoozi singer Sasha Perera’s solo endeavour under the name of Perera Elsewhere will grace the stage, presenting the 2013 release Everlast on L.A.’s Friends of Friends Label. The result sounds deep, a little bit spooky, pleasantly sloppy, earthy for sure, quite trippy, and –even considering the accelerating circles of retromania– nicely out of time, which, considering the contemporay looks of the project is a highly interesting and also daring combination.
So elsewhere Sasha Perera is also a very unique musician, well and equally schooled in the expansion of consciousness, digital aesthetics and good old songwriting.

The «Don Corleone of Berlin Rock’n’Roll», is really some kind of godfather of Berlin subculture. Multitalent, charming genius, restless drummer and one of our favourite Bavarians Chris Imler will play solo and with Oum Shatt. Yes, we do trust his ADHD to master even two shows in one day.
Speaking of hyperkinesis, the album which suddenly urged the drummer to the front of the stage is called «Nervös». Onwards, Chris! Nervous is the new cool.
Raising hell in Mitte, please welcome the first black metal band at Torstraßen Festival! After recently artists such as Liturgy or Deafheaven have stepped out of the inner circles of infernal music and thus appealed to notoriously trend-sensitive music media it is Sun Worship, a Berlin-based three-piece which lets our rather exposed ears flutter in awe.
Sun Worship celebrates speed and repetition to an extreme where sound layers of hypnotic, almost meditative quality arise. Hell yes!
