Traurig Und Untanzbar w/ Killawatt, Subheim, CEEYS and Aseret at Kantine am Berghain / Friday, 14.09.2018

Once 2018’s festival season is over and Berlin’s trees have shed their autumn leaves, the time for Traurig und Untanzbar has come – an evening celebrating the joy of dark ambient music and its transition from melancholy to wrath and chaos in the course of just four live concerts. Because to us, this music is everything but sad and impossible to dance to. It’s the pinnacle of joy!

Berlin-based musician Subheim composes deep electronic music with acoustic elements. His work is a collage of field recordings, slow evolving drum beats, hypnotic melodies and echoing voices. Drawing from a wide spectrum of genres and influences, from ambient, drone and post-rock to downtempo, lofi, trip hop and even techno, his sonic journeys are there for cold nights, for long train rides, for one to sink into during or after the storm, for the sleepless and the loners.

CEEYS are the Berlin-born, Potsdam-based brothers Sebastian and Daniel Selke, an award-winning cello-piano duo performing an impressive experimental but accessible minimalism between avant-garde and pop that incorporates elements of jazz, ambient and classical chamber music.

ASERET’s drone-based, organic ambient experimentations will kick it off, enhanced by Or Sarfati’s visuals, followed by the contempory / neo-classic sound of CEEYS. Then Subheim takes over, introducing us to darker territory – a vast void of slow, broken beats and haunting melodies. The night is then climaxing with Killawatt who will teach us a lesson in aural anger management.
