Whirl is a trio that features the legendary English reedist Tobias Delius (ICP orchestra) alongside Adrian Fiskum Myhr and Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø, two of Norway’s brightest young musicians. Together, Henrik, Adrian and Tobias plays sparkling improvised music, where explosive free jazz gestures are mixed with micro tonal timbral investigations and transparent melodic motifs.
The three of them met for their first concert in Berlin in 2012, and have toured in Hungary, Slovenia, Austria and Norway since then. Always delving deeper into their vivid musician universe.
Adrian and Henrik have worked together regularly since 2010, and played concerts in Scandinavia, England, Scotland, Ireland, Poland, Slovenia, Germany, Hungary, Austria, and the Czech republic both as a duo and in trio with (a.o.) drummers Tomas Järmyr and Raymond Strid.
Tobias Delius have been an important voice on the international music scene for many years in collaboration with musicians like Steve Lacy, Misha Mengelberg, Bill Frisell, Steve Beresford, Ray Anderson and Paul Lovens. He is a regular member of the ICP orchestra, and runs his own quartet which features Tristan Honsiger, Joe Williamson and Han Bennink.
