Z O O by Daniela Fromberg & Stefan Roigk at Pavillon am Milchhof / 7.-20.03.2022

Proliferation and penetration are the topics of the exhibition “ZOO”: The Pavillon am Milchhof becomes a biotope inhabited by two sculptural installations that grow through each other, entwine, and intersect through sound. Fromberg and Roigk make use of reduced sculptural and acoustic elements, which overgrow the space in varying repetition, condense at points, penetrate and react to each other.

Organic sound fields add a temporal dimension to this static ensemble and gives life to it with floral noises and animal-like sounds. This soundscape is transmitted onto the windowpanes of the pavilion by using sound transducers and opens up the spatial boundaries of the sculpture to the exterior. As a starting point for the installation “Zoo”, the two artists draw on their existing works “Rollercoaster & Hobos” (Fromberg) and “The Ladder” (Roigk) and develop them further in a collaborative growth process. Sounds and sculptures form structural fields of varying entropy. The exhibition in the glass pavilion is activated from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and can be viewed and listened to from the outside! Registration is not required.

Since 2010, Daniela Fromberg & Stefan Roigk have been collaborating on intermedia installations and compositions that use artefacts from their everyday surroundings. Their artistic works include compositions, sound sculptures and installations, musical graphics, performance and photography. They are the founder of geräusch[mu’si: k], an award-winning education program for sound art.
